Strawberry Festival this weekend!

Posted by jerry duke on May 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Shirley Strawberry Festival. It's here already and is looking to be a very nice time for all ages. If the phone keeps ringing it looks like we may have 50 +  vendors, bounce houses and kids games and activities. The Depot and Octagon house will be open for visitors to see progress being made in both places. There will be lots of live music during the day, and at 1PM Officer Brian will give a demonstration with his police dog Huron. Followed at 2:15 by Maurice Lewman giving a talk on Shirley's past, and the old Railroad and Depot. Suburban East will be the featured band in the evening. They are a local favorite. Oh yes and from 10AM until 1:30 there will be a free car show, no entry for the car owners, and Top 10 and People's Choice Awards. Lots to do, all day the festival runs from 10 AM until 8 PM. All on Railroad Street and the Octagon house front lawn.

If you know someone with a business, organization, or that sets up at swap meets or flea markets invite them to set up or be a Vendor at Founders Day, :)

If you sing, dance, tell jokes, play an instrument, or know someone who does, tell them about Joan Cupps Talent Show. :)

If you have ideas for a better Founders Day let us know. :)

If you'like to volunteer and help plan, and/or help us run Founders Day, get with us soon....please don't come up after Founders Day and say "Why didn't you do this or that"  It's a little to late then! :(

As always volunteers are hard to find, so let us know if you can help even if it's only for only a couple hours. Let's all work together and make this Founders days the Bast one ever! :)
